Amanda Van Allen graduated from Illinois State University in 2001 with a bachelors degree in secondary education. She started her teaching career at Bloomington High School the following year. In 2009, Amanda earned a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Economic Education. Over the course of her career, she has taught Economics, World History, U.S. History, Sociology, and American Government to high school students at Bloomington. She has presented at the National Council on Economic Education and travelled to Romania to train teachers and develop partnerships on Economic Education Principles.
Amanda has benefited from the work of and volunteerism from Junior Achievement over the course of her 18-year teaching career. She has hosted multiple volunteers in her classroom who have shared their passion for financial education. Her favorite Junior Achievement program is the stock market challenge. She and her classes have participated in the day-long competition every year it has been offered in McLean County. During the pandemic, she joined the online version of the competition.
Amanda has a desire to help high school students become successful leaders and prepare them for the ups and downs of life. She loves Bloomington High School and its students.
